The pie man delivers
Falcon Enamelware is a design icon. Embraced by British campers, picnickers and outdoor cooks since the 1920s, its ice-white, blue-rimmed plates, mugs and dishes have been synonymous with the alfresco lifestyle for even longer than the 52-year-old Big Green Egg.
As two heritage brands obsessed with design, durability and the great outdoors, we’ve joined forces to create an exclusive range of products. The latest addition to the collection is our Oven to Table Pie Dish, designed for baking family-sized pies and serving them straight from the EGG to the table. To inspire our pie making adventures, we sought the expertise of a master of the art: Will Lewis, founder of the brilliant Willy’s Pies. He shared with us these three delicious pie recipes.

The Feasting Pie Dish
When we asked Will to put our new Oven to Table Pie Dish through its paces, he was a little sceptical. “Pies in a barbecue? I’ll admit, I was a bit dubious,” he says “You don’t normally put the two together. But they turned out so well.” In large part that’s down to the unique qualities of the EGG. “What was really interesting to me was just how easy it was to regulate the temperature, which is so important. The pastry was taking on some of the smoky flavour, as well as the filling. It gave the pies a real depth.” The enamelware dish proved to be the perfect vessel for Will’s big, rustic, feasting-style pies. “It’s just really nice homeware and I love nice homeware,” he says. “The pies turned out great.”

About Willy’s Pies
As a young chef, Will learned his craft at some of London’s top restaurants, including Brat, Rochelle Canteen and St. John. While furloughed during the Covid lockdowns, he decided to burn off some energy by making one of his favourite foods – proper pies – and delivering them around London by bike. What started out as side hustle is now a thriving business, with a permanent bakery in London Fields and contracts with the likes of Arsenal FC and Ocado. His pies are revered for the care that goes into their creation, and the quality and generosity of their fillings.

Falcon Enamelware has been embedded in British life since the 1920s, when it was founded in the Black Country by local entrepreneur Joe Kleiner. Each product is pressed from a sheet of heavy-gauge steel then covered with a robust enamel coat made from powdered glass. A recent refresh of the brand has preserved the classic look while expanding the range of colours and upgrading the enamelling process to increase the products’ impressive durability. Our collaboration sticks to that tried and tested formula. The same peerless quality. The same famous aesthetic. But green.
